Robert McLaughlin Gallery EXPOSED Finalist 2016

I’m happy to share that my photograph – Benchscape No. 7 – has been chosen as a finalist for the RMG Exposed event this November.

Every object has a story. These arrangements are inspired in part by the famous 17th century “vanitas” themed Dutch still life paintings, by Henry Moore’s sculptural maquettes, and by the workbenches of wood craftsmen. For me each object here holds a particular memory of a place I’ve lived or travelled. However, the cumulative formal effect on the viewer is intended to be about texture, colour, and light, with the narrative aspect remaining somewhat unknown.     JES

I’m also proud to share that one of my senior Visual Art student’s photographs has a also been selected as a finalist in the Youth category. This is Zaira Lo’s image CEILING, 2016.
